finally...

yes, finally...

i am able to go online and chat with the rest of the world, to feel as though i am connected to it or at least to some form of civilisation.

just in case to those who were wondering, i have been suffering for almost a month without being able to use the internet freely. simply due to the fact that i had absolutely no internet connection. i was informed constantly by the 'caretaker' of the building that the people from telstra were coming, hopefully today. it was always the same words day after day, week after week. but i guess, i have to be happy with the circumstance that i'm in.

at least i didn't have a shower that didn't work. at least i didn't have a toilet which floods, at least i didn't have an apartment which has a nickname called a sauna. at least i didn't have a tv that had only two channels compared to the standard nine. so i guess, i was pretty lucky.

to those who're wondering how fantastic my life is or how exciting it has become, due to the supposedly new found freedom of living alone. it's not. it's nowhere near fantastic or exciting. it's dead to be exact. the freedom wasn't quite new found by the way. shops/almost everywhere in melbourne closes between 5 -6. only stores that open late were the mini marts and super marts. you can't go far if you don't have a car. yes, it's slightly safer in melbourne than in sydney, that's because everyone's home. people are hardly out. and if they are, they are SOCIALISING. one thing that i am hardly doing.

i'm not complaining that i don't have friends here or whatsoever. it's just a different kind of situation. friendships that are maintained, requires effort and time, and most importantly form of contact. let me just go into further detail.

school.
i have a grand total of NINE contact hours in school. do you know how long that is? well lemme just fill you in, it's not a lot. i don't have classes on the weekends nor on wednesdays.
most of the days i'm in school for two hours tops, or just one. no one's allowed to talk in lectures, my tutes are only an hour long. everyone has totally different schedules. you know what they say, the beauty of an arts degree is in its diversity.

so yeah, could someone just teach me how to get good friends out of uni when i see them for only an hour a week? how are the bonds of friendship supposedly formed if i don't see them?

apartment.
i live alone. at the end of a particular road. lucky for me, that's where the tram stop is. so basically it's near and far. it's considered to be one of the nearer places to the city but it's still far enough cos' it's the end of the tram line. trams only run within areas nearer to the city. my friends, those whom i've known since secondary school, they live further into the suburbs. partly cos' even though we are all enrolled in the same university, i am the only one in the caulfield campus. yup, the small one. the one where you could walk from one end of the campus to the other in five minutes. besides that, the place which i am currently staying at, i've known only 2 of them. one's a singaporean, the other's greek. i guess i have to be thankful, cos at least i've got two. the last time i checked, two is better than none. ah well, don't know what's gonna come out of it..

was kinda hoping intitally that things would be fun and i'd make new friends, and move in with my old friends, cos' it gets quite lonely living alone sometimes. i was obviously sorely disappointed about the fun part but i guess i've learnt to deal with it. i don't expect much anymore. i'm fine just being in school for classes, and to go back home when i'm done. i don't really think i'd move due to much inconvenience to others. so i guess, i just wanna be done with my two years here, and see how things goes.

to those who said i'll love it here, right now at this point of time, you have no idea how wrong you are. to those who think that i'm depressed living and studying here, you're wrong too. i am not depressed, i am in the midst of adapting. it might not seem to be true, with the tone of my words, but hey i can tell you why. i don't feel really happy right now.

i want to be able to get my naruto and other stuff fast. so please, 10mbps. how the bloody hell am i supposed to accomplish that?
