the wordy update for now
i realised i might as well do a quick recap of my past month, since these few events aren't filled with pictures.
let's see, ahh.. so i finally had my steamboat experience, my first in melbourne. sadly it wasn't a good one. the city one is NOT good.. don't go there. only cos' they didn't have mushrooms. haha. service was bad, but it really wasn't the old lady's fault. i was seriously pissed. screw the fact that i had tons of eyes on me cos' i wasn't exactly the nicest to people sitting near the door. but hey, you have jackets, and you're eating. it ain't my fault that you didn't bother asking nicely. didn't really help that you were from my ancestor's grounds. i hate sounding and being racist really, but i am only human. don't fault me totally. i don't want to generalise either, but hey, consistent examples do mean something right, prove me wrong and i will gladly accept it. i'm not just saying this to be politically correct. but it's nice to know that asians aren't dicks sometimes y'know. just in case you wonder, yes i still do know where my roots are, what colour skin i have, how asian my features look. but the majority of the people who aren't asians here, aren't exactly really racist-free either f.y.i.
that aside, to sum up my steamboat experience, don't mess with a girl who's really hungry and waited damn long out in the cold, and is made to wait for 2 more tables which could have been ours, because the service staff (i.e. not including the boss) refused to apologise to us and simply allowed the caucasians to have our table. tell them you made a mistake and fucked up, and let them wait in the cold. don't look at me as though you knew nothing about it after your lady boss told you so. whites aren't always the best. get that in your head.
days later, when we (z, min+i) met vanessa for dinner we went to this place that has good, cheap dumplings in chinatown. stressful i tell you. and the waitresses, fierce. and apparently business picked up after they got shut down for a while due to unhygienic conditions. i think the mentality of good food found at dirty places has passed on even to the aussies. cos' it suddenly became flooded with aussies after it re-opened. and really, it's weird seeing dumplings eaten with reds/whites. it's so... wrong. chinese tea is the way to go, in my opinion.
finally brought min down to docklands, and she also finally had her nandos after recommendation from z and florence. and i really thought wrong about the chips servings. i haven't been eating nandos for a while you see. as usual, headed to starbucks after walking around, and i learnt my lesson, never be over confident when playing 'scissors, paper, stone' especially when you are trying to get out of eating something. i lost lah, k. we wanted to go ice-skating with everyone, as a replacement for not being able to go skiing up in the mountains, but according to glen, it wasn't quite worth it. so i guess we saved some money after all.
sunday, was camberwell market day. aside from the lil' trinkets i bought, i was really tempted to buy home some furniture. i really do like vintage stuff. but ms. leong had to tell me that, spirits can live in furniture and purchasing one might result in your demise (not the death kind of way, but heck if it's really that bad, i suppose that could happen. sorry, morbid thoughts). so i'm being apprehensive for now. then again, it's not like my apartment has the space for it. i'm in the mood for furniture shopping. can't wait to have my own proper place, though that seems quite far off the horizon at the moment. ah well.. melbourne or sydney? it used to be a definite sydney here i come, but i'm really beginning to like melbourne. why? what's changed? nothing really. just my feelings for this place i suppose.
pixar held/is holding an exhibition at fed square till november i think. go check it out if you're here. it really makes me want to take back art again, and i feel really untalented too, you'd get it if you saw the oils, acrylics and pastels done of these cartoon animation movies. their signature icons.

i keep telling min, i wanna sell her my desk lamp.
can be collected anytime, but she refuses...

yup, my really scaredy gingerbread man
darn, it's raining, and i wanted to go out and celebrate. a rainy winter really blows. and it's time to look for casual. on a positive note, the manager at fat(chaddy) thought i had my weekend off so i could shop, which is a good thing. it might just mean i can find a place in sales after all. wish me luck. i do dread interviews since i haven't been for one in a looong time, and the whole resume-dropping thingy. it's stressful and nerve wrecking. i wanna cut my hair. the girls are giving me green-light, while the guys are greatly emphasizing on how unattractive i'll look with short hair. so the question now is, can my salon give me that effect i want and how attractive do i really want to be?
